Hi Rajiv,

I checked with Cisco, and you are correct. The Cisco Transmit Beamforming technology (Client Link) does not provide any benefits for 802.11b stations. Cisco is using some of the advanced 802.11n signal processing data to drive ClientLink. It is only computed for the 802.11a/g signals that use OFDM modulation, not the older CCK modulation used by 802.11b.

Thanks for your comment!

Hi Rajiv,

Although the documentation specifically states "802.11 g/a", my understanding is that ClientLink also works with 802.11b stations. I am checking with Cisco on this and will post an update.

Thanks for your comment!

Nice article on Tx Beamforming. I noticed a small error. According to Cisco documentation, ClientLink does not work for 802.11b. I am not quite sure why this technology is limited to OFDM modulation.

You mention...

"Cisco has introduced a proprietary form of TxBF called ClientLink. ClientLink can work with 802.11b/g/a STAs because it requires no modifications in the STA."

Cisco mentions...

"And because it doesn't require any special feedback, Cisco ClientLink works with all existing 802.11a/g clients ."

Nice article on Tx Beamforming Paul. I noticed a small error. Cisco ClientLink technology does not work for 802.11b per its published document. Please see the website below.

This is an awesome netbook. Have had for 3 months now and have loved it all the while. Have traveled with as well use daily for note taking. Extremely light and portable. Still very usable I have no trouble typing at all even with my large hands. The battery life was the huge selling point for me and it is truly awesome. 10 hours is a bit optimistic but you can count on 8 to 9 consistently. All features worked excellently for me so far especially appreciate the touchpad lock button(great for taking notes) as well as the screen off function key. The touchpad has a nice feel the zoom in and out can be tricky to use but the vertical and horizontal(in word) work really well.

Gripes-
Heat not unbearable but fan get annoying when studying in library
Keyboard is not as sturdy as I would like has some minor flex
Zoom feature is not as smooth as could be
heavy rearward weight bias so much that it wants to fall backwards(but wont) with the screen pushed back all the way
doesnt
